If the backyard is reached through a narrow side yard, soil, gravel and concrete have to be moved by hand or with small machines, which adds cost.
The right order
Grading first, then concrete, then turf or sod, then beds and the fence. That way nothing new gets torn up.

Every town has its own rules for pool fences, so sort out the permit before the pool goes in.
Dogs
Turf stays mud-free and rinses clean. Ask for turf made for pets, which drains faster.

Turf stands up to kids, dogs and pool traffic and never needs mowing. Sod is softer, cooler underfoot and costs less up front. We'll tell you which suits your yard at the estimate.
