Sod installation in Windsor and Essex County.
We install new sod across Windsor and Essex County: new builds, tired or grub-damaged lawns and full lawn replacements. We prep the ground properly, lay it tight, and you've got a finished lawn the day we leave.
How we install sod in Windsor.
Old lawn out.
We strip the old grass and weeds so the new sod isn't sitting on top of the problem.
Graded and levelled.
The ground gets levelled and sloped so water runs away from the house. Where the soil is poor, we bring in fresh soil.
Laid tight.
Rolls go down with tight seams and staggered joints, so you don't see lines across the lawn.
Cleaned up.
Leftover sod, soil and debris leave with us. The site gets cleaned up every day.

Sod in Windsor: what to know.
A new lawn only looks as good as the ground under it and the first few weeks after it goes down. Here's what matters in Windsor-Essex.
The best time to lay sod
Spring and early fall are the easiest: cooler weather and regular rain help the roots take. Sod can go down through the summer too, it just needs more water while it roots. The only real no-go is frozen ground.
Getting the ground ready
A lot of Windsor yards sit on heavy clay that drains slowly. The old lawn comes out, the ground gets levelled and sloped away from the house, and fresh soil goes down where the existing soil is poor.
Watering new sod
Every day for the first couple of weeks, enough to keep the soil underneath damp. Then water less often but more deeply once the roots grab. A sprinkler system takes care of it for you.
Sod or seed?
Seed costs less but takes a season or more to fill in and needs a lot of babying. Sod gives you a finished lawn the day it's laid, which is why most new builds and front yards go with sod.
Re-sodding grub damage
If grubs have killed patches of the lawn, the grubs get dealt with first, then the dead turf comes out and fresh sod goes down.

What month should I lay sod?
May, June, September and October are the easiest months in Windsor. Sod can go down any time the ground isn't frozen, as long as it gets the water it needs.
Can I just lay sod over dirt?
Yes, as long as the dirt is levelled, loosened and sloped away from the house. Hard, packed clay needs fresh soil on top first, or the roots can't get in.
Is it too late to put sod down now?
Not unless the ground has frozen. Sod roots slowly in the cold, so late-fall sod has to stay damp until the freeze, and you stay off it until spring. Once the ground freezes, we book you in for spring.
How long before I can walk on new sod?
Keep foot traffic light for the first couple of weeks while the roots take hold. After that, the lawn is ready for normal use.
How much should I water new sod?
Every day for the first couple of weeks, enough to keep the soil underneath damp. Then water less often but more deeply. A sprinkler system takes care of it for you.
Can sod go down on clay soil?
Yes, with the right prep. We level the ground, slope it away from the house and bring in fresh soil where the existing soil is poor.
Do you take out the old lawn?
Yes. The old grass and weeds come out first, so the new sod isn't sitting on top of the problem.
Can you re-sod just part of my lawn?
Yes. We can cut out dead or damaged sections and lay fresh sod, or replace the whole lawn if it's too far gone.
Do you lay sod on new builds?
Yes, it's one of our most common jobs. We grade the lot, bring in soil where it's thin and lay sod. The driveway, beds and fence can go on the same quote.
Do you give free sod estimates in Windsor?
Yes. We come out, measure the lawn and talk it through, and you get a written quote the same day.
How soon can you lay my sod?
Usually in about two weeks. A 15-person full-time crew means we can actually get to you.
Are there watering limits for new sod?
In Leamington, Kingsville, Essex and the parts of Lakeshore on Union Water, yes: alternate days from May 1 to September 30, early morning or evening only. A new lawn can get a temporary exemption permit from the municipality, so apply before the sod goes down.
Is the work covered by a warranty?
Yes. We offer a one-year warranty, and we'll go over what it covers for your job at the free estimate. We're also fully insured and WSIB covered.
Often done on the same job.
One crew, one quote, one schedule. No juggling three contractors.
